The EU trade portal. Here you can find news, analysis, and information on trade and customs agreements both within and outside the EU framework.

The EU Trade by Country/Region section provides an overview of the trade relationship between the EU and specific countries or regions. By selecting a country or region, you can access a high-level analysis and visualisation of the EU’s trade with that country or region, together with links to current trade agreements and ongoing trade negotiations.

The My Trade Assistant tool can be used to analyse trading opportunities for a specific product between two countries or regions. It provides quick access to information on customs duties, taxes and charges, any applicable restrictions, and statistics on previous trade in the product with the selected country or region.

The World Bank is an international organisation that provides loans and supports development in developing countries. Through its Data360 platform, users can access data, analyses, reports, and other resources on international financial and economic development.

Searching: You can perform a free-text search using the search box and refine the results using the menu below the search field, for example by limiting results to datasets or analyses. The filters in the left-hand menu allow you to further narrow your search results by criteria such as geography, infrastructure, population, climate, economic policy, or trade.

The World Bank also publishes the World Development Indicators (WDI), its principal collection of data on economic, social, and development trends. You can search for WDI within Data360 or browse by topic or country.

The page provides an overview of official company registers and registration authorities in a range of countries. From here, you can access each country’s register directly and search for companies and company information.

The page is particularly useful when you need to find or verify information about a foreign company, such as its registration details, name, or status. The directory includes registers from the Nordic countries, EU Member States, the United Kingdom, the United States, and several other countries.

Access Company Registers

Industry classification codes are a standardised way of categorising businesses according to their principal economic activity. They can be used, for example, to identify companies operating within a particular industry sector.

Search: Use search terms related to the companies’ activities or purpose, such as brewing, telecommunications or kitchen equipment. Consider whether the activity involves the manufacture of goods or the provision of goods or services, and whether it concerns retail, wholesale or agency trade.

OpenCorporates is a global database of company information compiled from public registers in more than 140 countries and jurisdictions. The database contains information on over 220 million companies.

You can find details such as company name, registration number, status, incorporation date, address, as well as information about directors and other senior officers. Financial statements for certain companies may also be available, along with other details, depending on the company's country of origin.

OpenCorporates can be used to investigate and verify companies, as well as to identify connections between companies and individuals.

The Central Business Register provides information on all businesses in Denmark. Some of the data are available for free and others are payment information.

Commodity codes, or HS codes (Harmonized System codes), are an internationally standardised method of classifying goods. They are used in connection with the import and export of goods. The commodity code determines whether customs duties apply and, if so, how much duty must be paid.

Search: Use precise search terms, such as “steel plate” or “bathtub”, rather than broader terms like “plate” or “tub”. You can also enter multiple search terms at once, for example “frozen vegetables”.

Comprehensive patent database with enhanced and translated metadata for patent applications and patent documents. The database covers 60 patent authorities and includes records from 1963 onwards.

Search: Use the drop-down menu to search by title and abstract (Topic), inventor, company (Assignee), patent number, or other criteria. More advanced search options are available under the other tabs, including citation searching.

Access Derwent Innovations Index 

International patent database from The European Patent Office. Contains more than 80 million patent documents - primarily patent applications. Many of the patent documents are available in full text as a PDF file (use the link "Original Document").

Use Smart Search to search in titles, abstracts, inventors, applicants, years and patent numbers.

The official gateway to European statistics. The data will be supplied by each country's statistical agencies, after which they are collected in tables. By each topic statistics can be found from different countries, and can be used for comparison.

Statistics Denmark has compiled a collection of links to international statistical databases where you can find data on a wide range of topics, including social conditions, research, the economy, business, and the environment. The sources include both statistics covering European countries and data from countries around the world.

Headlines are in Danish, but content is in English.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) is an organisation of 38 member countries that works to promote democracy, the market economy, and other liberal values. The OECD serves as a global knowledge hub where governments exchange experiences and develop solutions to shared challenges.

OECD Library provides detailed and harmonised statistics on areas such as the economy, trade, energy, education, employment, development, and research from OECD countries and other major economies.

Search: A good place to start is the OECD Data Explorer. The OECD’s many publications also provides a good gateway to its statistical resources.

Scopus is the largest citation database with citations from 1996 and forwards. The bibliographical coverage goes back to the 1870s. The database is produced by Elsevier. The database refers to articles from more than 21,000 titles and 5,000 international publishers. Scopus covers scientific articles, professional periodicals, book series, conference papers, books and patents.

It is possible to make citation analyses on a specific researcher, including a researcher’s h-index both with and without own citations
