VIA demands that all staff register information about their publications in UC Viden.

The Danish University Colleges agreed in 2015 on a letter of intent on open access. The purpose is to make access free to as many research articles as possible for both students, collaborators, practice and citizens.

  • How to upload your article

    When you enter data on your publication in UC Viden there is a box where you can

    • Upload your file
    • Insert a link
    • Attach a DOI and choose a CC license.
  • Post-print or the publisher’s version?

    It is necessary that you investigate which version of the article you have the rights to upload. At the site open access & copyright you can read about your rights. Your agreement with the publisher will always apply.

    In UC Knowledge information from Sherpa/Romeo is accessible. The colour codes and the version appear at UC Knowledge when you enter the journal name. Blue and green colour codes allow sharing. Sometimes it may be necessary to search for more information on the individual journal’s own website.

    Sometimes the publisher demands you to wait for 6 or 12 months before you are allowed to share the file. The publishers typically call this delayed open access an embargo period.

    In UC Knowledge you can upload your article and then enter an embargo period; it will be released and visible a the time your have permission to use open access.

  • How will your post-print be quoted?

    When you upload a post-print in UC Knowledge, your file will get a front page. The front page contains information that the file is e.g. a ”post-print” or ”publisher’s version” as well as bibliographical data on the publisher’s version of the article.

    The frontpage ensures that your article is cited correctly.

  • What is DOI and how do you find it?

    It has become common for larger publishers in particular to assign a DOI to their articles.

    A DOI (digital object identifier) is a unique range of numbers which can be assigned to articles which are published and are accessible electronically. DOI is a permanent URL contrary to a link.

    When you upload an article in UC Viden, you can choose a Creative Commons License (CC licence) (choose The Internet for information on CC Licence)
